Week 2

Well, this week started out fine, but as you will see, the proverbial unexpected complications have begun. On Monday, I came home to find the first layer of the foundation in. You can see in the picture below that the bottom part is a bit thicker than what is on the top. The second day the top part went in and the third day the vents went in. All the while we were waiting for Utah Power and Light to come and hook up the power. On Thursday the power company dropped the bombshell that the power would have to be rerouted to the back corner of the yard.
Thursday, I came home to find that a hole in the garage floor had been jackhammered out in preparation for the sewer lines...
...and that there was a huge! ditch stretching from the addition through the inner fence (which you can see in it's original form in the first photo), past my one and only shade tree and through the garden. The backhoe was still working when I got home at 4:30.
Only one of the garden boxes was destroyed--it was the one with the chard and spinich and lettuce, so I harvested it all early.

The baby spinach was wonderful!
