Here's the hole that Jack dug after he moved the cement stepping stones. Right now there's rocks in the hole to keep Ben and Maggie from slipping out while I'm gone.
Here's the patch that I hope will keep Jack in the yard. The stones are still in the hole--several the size of my head--then there's dirt stamped around them. Then the cement stepping stones are covering the whole thing. I figure that if he can't get his claws under them and can't dig under them, the steeping stones that gave me a hernia when I moved them will probably keep him in.
Whether or not the fence will keep him in is anybody's guess.
(No, Jack didn't make those last holes--ha ha)
Sus you willl appreciate that there was a huge ant nest under the one stepping stone that Jack didn't move (he's smarter than he looks). They swarmed over my feet, marching up my legs and down my arms biting and stinging the whole time I was mending this opening. I really love Jack--if I didn't, I'd have been in the next county with the first sting.

Wow. Those are giant stones!!! I think your fix is good--hopefully he won't have a reason to want to escape either! I wonder how many times he got bit before he decided not to disturb the nest...
