The Shed

So it's time to replace the shed. I bartered with Matt to exchange the piano for work on a new shed. As you can see the old one is pretty shabby.
It's showing its age...
The plan is to use railroad ties for the foundation, so the area has to be prepped. Here is the 'before' of the place I plan to put the shed. Part of the barter is that I take care of making the plot ready.
The ties weigh 250 pound each. I thought I would be able to drag them off the truck, the drag them into the back yard, but Cal and Ceasar thought that was a bad plan. So they took on that job and managed to get one of the ties over to the plot. The other 4 are still just inside the gate and I'm thinking dragging them into the back yard by myself may not be the best idea. At least not until tomorrow morning when I have more energy.
So I dug and measured and dug and leveled and dug some more until I had 5 trenches to take the ties.
Those of you who have not had the pleasure of digging in Sandy (where the soil is decidedly not sandy), you're probably saying "How nice," with a sweetly saccharine voice. If you have had the pleasure, you'll more probably saying, "D***, it sucks to be you."

So I dragged and twisted and adjusted for maybe 45 minutes to get this one in and level.

Not bad, eh? As Vaughn would say, "I'm sofa king tired!"

Wow. Nice job! I don't think a single thing on our deck is that level.
