After 6 wheelbarrow fulls of dirt, 2 of mulch, 3 bags of bark, and finding every last white brick in the back yard (after digging one out of the orchard, one out of one of the backyard window wells and one out from under the edge of the shed, and making use of every broken piece, I had exactly enough), it looked like this...
I used the leftover pieces of Trex from the porch to make "stepping stones" for Oliver--he usually comes over barefooted and I didn't want him to get bark slivers in his feet.
I graded the dirt so that it sloped away from the house, like it's supposed to. That meant digging up the decorative rocks in the corner by the faucet, filling in dirt with the right grade and putting it all back. Yes that's still a piece of french drain in the well--I do have more work to do. I have about 10 feet of drain to put in through the flower garden and I need to clean out the window wells. Then I'll call it done.
