The rain has been pooling in front of this window well and I have been worried that it could overflow and leak into the basement, ruining the new floor. So, I put in a French drain (perforated tube--you can see what one looks like if you look in the window well). This means that I dug a ditch, put some sand from the back yard dirt piles in the bottom of the ditch, graded it so the water would run the right way, poured gravel over the whole thing, raised the edge of the window well, and finally put the dirt back--graded so the water will run into the drain. Now the water pools over the drain, runs down the tube and out to the front flower bed. I still have to do the other window well, but it's a start and the rain won't run into the basement now.

So that's where my motivation went. Apparently I loaned it to you and forgot that I had. Glad you could make such good use of it.
Do you think we could fairly easily install one of those next to the deck? There's a nasty pool that forms on the right side of it.
